Keysight Technologies to use LoRa® Technology in its LoRa-Based Test Solutions
Semtech’s LoRa Technology allows Keysight to develop test methodologies and solutions for the multi-industry growth that IoT offers
Highlights:

  • Semtech provides technical data on their LoRa® Technology to Keysight for use in test solutions for design validation and verification of IoT applications
  • Cohesive test methodology will enable Semtech customers to bring IoT applications to market faster
  • LoRa Technology is a leading low-power wide-area network (LPWAN) technology

SANTA ROSA, Calif., Nov. 30, 2017 – Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS) today announced that it will use Semtech Corporation’s LoRa® devices and wireless RF technology (LoRa Technology) in the development of internet of things (IoT) test solutions.

Semtech’s LoRa Technology is one of the leading low-power wide-area network (LPWAN) technologies and is used in the building of IoT networks. LoRa Technology is designed for sensors and applications that need to send a small amount of data over long distances a few times per hour from varying environments, such as climate change, pollution control, and early warning of natural disasters. The platform is easy to add into a company’s existing infrastructure and the technology offers a solution to serve battery-operated IoT applications. Semtech builds LoRa Technology into its chipsets. These chipsets are then built into the products offered by their IoT partners and integrated into LPWANs, which send the data to application servers via backhaul technologies such as cellular, Ethernet, satellite or Wi-Fi.

Keysight will use the technical data from Semtech’s LoRa Technology to develop highly flexible test solutions for use in design validation and verification of IoT applications. Keysight will provide dedicated signal generation and analysis tools for LoRa-based devices in the X-Series signal analyzers and signal generators, E6640A EXM wireless test set, as well as its 89600 VSA software.

“IoT presents a significant opportunity in the context of Keysight’s mission to enable a connected and secure world,” said Kailash Narayanan, vice president and general manager of Wireless Devices and Operators business at Keysight Technologies. “LoRa is one of the key LPWAN technologies that Keysight is pursuing to address industry-specific IoT needs. We are pleased to have this strategic collaboration with Semtech and deliver an industry leading solution to help our customers gain confidence in their LPWAN designs.”
