Chunghwa Telecom will use the system to trial a range of IoT devices and applications in its laboratory. NB-IoT is a 3GPP standards-based Low Power Wide Area technology that offers significant improvements in areas such as deep indoor coverage, power consumption, device complexity, system capacity and spectrum efficiency. The end-to-end NB-IoT solution developed for Chunghwa Telecom will comprise a range of Ericsson offerings including the Ericsson Radio System, Massive IoT radio access network (RAN) software, virtual Evolved Packet Core (vEPC), virtual Subscriber Data Management (vSDM), and the IoT Smart Device and Application service on the AppIoT platform. Leading Vietnamese telecom operator VNPT has awarded Ericsson a contract for a new online charging system supporting 40 million subscribers The Ericsson Charging System will enhance user experience for VNPT’s subscribers by providing real-time account control and personalization functionality The system will be put in service by VNPT during the fourth quarter 2017 and marks an important step in the company’s digital transformation VNPT, a leading telecom operator in Vietnam, has chosen Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) as a strategic partner to modernize its charging and business support system. The modernization will enable service convergence and advanced charging capabilities, and improve the user experience for VNPT’s 40 million pre-paid and post-paid subscribers. The new system will also reduce operational costs and lay the foundation for the operator’s transformation to a digital enterprise. The Ericsson Charging System is replacing VNPT’s legacy infrastructure, and the contract includes a backend IT peripheral system that will speed up the deployment and migration.
