Ericsson, PS Solutions & CKD dig into agricultural IoT

PS Solutions expands their “e-kakashi” agricultural IoT platform Project the latest example of how Ericsson and PS Solutions are developing IoT possibilities in Japan New “e-kakashi” platform premieres at AGRI WORLD 2017 in Tokyo, from October 11 to 13 Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC), PS Solutions Corp., affiliated with SoftBank Group Corp., and CKD Corporation, a supplier of actuation products, are collaborating on an update to “e-kakashi”, a platform which applies artificial intelligence (AI) and internet of things (IoT) technologies into agricultural processes. First introduced by PS Solutions in 2015, the second-generation “e-kakashi” platform will launch in March 2018. Nokia and Zain Saudi Arabia successfully trial country-first NB-IoT technology in live network for smart cities

Trial underlines Nokia’s leadership in enabling the Internet of Things (IoT) and creating a programmable world, and represents another step by Zain toward realization of smart cities Zain aims to deploy NB-IoT in major cities and rural areas by end of 2017   03 October 2017   Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – Nokia and Zain Saudi Arabia have taken a significant step towards the creation of an IoT ecosystem in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the successful trial of NB-IoT (Narrowband Internet of Things) technology at a live site in Mina area of Makkah Province.   In the trial – which used smart metering as a potential use case – NB-IoT was applied to communicate temperature, humidity and air pressure from a remote location via a Nokia LTE base station at 900 MHz, demonstrating the role NB-IoT could play in applications such as smart metering for electricity departments, smart parking and smart waste management. The trial follows the MoU signed by Nokia and Zain Saudi Arabia to collaborate on 5G and IoT development.   NB-IoT is a 3GPP Release 13 radio access technology designed to enable connectivity to IoT devices. VODAFONE RESEARCH REVEALS NUMBER OF LARGE SCALE INTERNET OF THINGS (IOT) PROJECTS DOUBLED IN THE LAST YEAR

Vodafone published today its fifth annual IoT Barometer Report  – the leading global survey of business sentiment regarding investment and innovation in the Internet of Things.   The Barometer report found that: The percentage of companies with more than 50,000 connected devices active has doubled in the last 12 months 84% of IoT adopters say that their use of IoT has grown in the last year 51% of IoT adopters say that the technology is increasing revenues or opening up new revenue streams 66% of all companies agree that digital transformation is impossible without IoT   Businesses in the Americas have led the way in embracing large scale IoT projects, where 19% of companies using IoT have more than 10,000 connected devices, compared to 13% in Europe and 7% in Asia Pacific. The large scale users also report some of the biggest business gains with 67% of them highlighting significant returns from the use of IoT.  Energy and utility companies are at the forefront of the largest IoT projects worldwide, with applications such as smart meters and pipeline monitoring.   The range of benefits that users are getting from IoT is also widening as adoption increases – greater business insights, reduced costs and improved employee productivity top the list globally.  In Asia Pacific 53 % of respondents cited increased market competiveness as the top benefit compared to 35% in...
