Zain Saudi Arabia First in Middle East to deploy DOVADO to Bolster 4G Services

Operator Launches Mini Router Device with LTE Backhaul to optimize the Mobile Broadband Experience for Homes and Businesses

Dubai Internet City, UAE / Kista, Sweden – April 23rd, 2012 – Zain KSA (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), one of the biggest operators in the region, has announced it is the first in the Middle East to deploy DOVADO’s mobile broadband routers. The Mini Router offers 3G and 4G USB modem support allowing subscribers to share their service across multiple devices in the home or office environment. Furthermore it also allows them to upgrade the mobile broadband modem whenever a new model is made available. The Zain KSA Mini Router is based on DOVADO’s TINY model that features the latest 802.11n WLAN standard, as well as an Ethernet LAN port, a WAN port for DSL failover and a SmartUSB port capable of re-powering the inserted USB modem in the event of any failures.

DOVADO’s products support Zain’s 4G/LTE modems operating in band 3 (1800 FDD), including the Quanta 1KRZ along with the Huawei E392, as well as all of the existing/legacy 3G USB modems offered by the operator. They support data speeds of up to 70 MB and also provide the ability to switch between fixed broadband (Ethernet WAN port) and mobile broadband (USB port) with help of the Connection Tracker feature.

Zain KSA boasts an advanced communications network in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and is always working towards providing the latest innovations in mobile services to correspond with the rise in demand from its customers for faster broadband. Numerous projects are currently in the development phase that will enhance the existing infrastructure and make it easier to fully deploy improvements to the network and offer enhancements to the 4G service such as the Mini Router.

“As a pioneer operator in the Middle East to launch 4G/LTE last year was an important milestone for not only Zain KSA, but the entire region. We have now built on this development by incorporating router modem support from DOVADO. We are very proud to be at the forefront of this mobile broadband revolution that will not only enhance the customer experience, but also encourage further innovation in this area,” said Saud Abdullah AlBawardi, Chief Commercial Officer of Zain KSA.

“Since the first commercial 4G networks were deployed in Scandinavia over two years ago the technology has now become a global phenomenon, bringing wired performance to the wireless world” said Erik Arthur, CEO of DOVADO FZ-LLC. “Zain KSA is DOVADO’s first operator customer to deploy in the Middle East region and we are delighted to be working with them to extend their mobile broadband offering for consumers and SMEs.”
