ATIS to Host Downloadable Security Solution Stakeholders Meeting

by david.nunes

In late September, The Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) will host a meeting aimed at enabling a downloadable security solution (DSS) for IPTV.

This meeting, comprised of the evolving IPTV ecosystem’s diverse stakeholders – such as content and service providers – will examine the technical specifications, business considerations and administrative constructs under review for a DSS’s commercial implementation and standardized industry approach.

As an outgrowth of ATIS’ substantial work program to develop ICT specifications and standards for the delivery of carrier-grade IPTV services, in June 2010, ATIS’ IPTV Downloadable Security Incubator’s (IDSI) released recommendations related to the developing ecosystem of DSS.  As part of its recommendations, the IDSI advised the establishment of a not-for-profit Neutral Management Organization (NMO) in order to advance DSS deployment.

The NMO would provide the management, legal, business and policy oversight functions necessary to support the DSS ecosystem, which consists of multiple certificate authorities and independent product certification laboratories.

The stakeholders meeting is scheduled for September 23rd, 2010, at 9:00AM as ATIS’ Washington, DC Headquarters.  It is open to all parties (including non-member companies) interested in better understanding the NMO concept and construct.

Registration, travel logistics, meeting details and materials are available on the following website: http://www.atis.org/nmo/.  Due to limited seating, participants are asked to register no later than September 9, 2010.
