Intelsat S.A., the world’s leading provider of satellite services, today announced several new agreements with media customers utilizing Intelsat’s premier video distribution neighborhoods. The contracts provide programmers the ability to expand their audiences for content offerings regionally and globally.

“Intelsat’s premier video neighborhoods provide strong value to programmers and broadcasters seeking to reach the broadest audiences,” said Intelsat SVP of Global Sales Kurt Riegelman. “Customers are also taking advantage of the diverse capabilities of our MCPC platforms in places like Europe, Africa and Asia, as well as the vast reach of our IntelsatOne terrestrial network, enabling them to expand their services and reach new viewers like never before.”

Latin American Broadcasters Use Multiple Intelsat Satellites to Optimize Regional Distribution of HD Content

In Mexico, Grupo Televisa has signed multi-year deals on Intelsat 11 at 317° East and Intelsat 905 at 335.5° East. The company will provide prime high-definition distribution of its Pay TV services for Latin America’s leading cable distribution systems on Intelsat 11, and its European Pay TV bouquet to cable systems on Intelsat 905.

Also in Mexico, TV Azteca recently signed several capacity agreements on Intelsat 11, Intelsat 21 at 302° East and Galaxy 25 at 93° West. The multi-year contracts on Intelsat 11 and Intelsat 21 will allow the Mexico-based programmer to provide international standard- and high-definition content to Latin America’s leading cable headends. The capacity agreement on Galaxy 25 enables TV Azteca to deliver satellite news-gathering services throughout North America, Mexico and the Caribbean.

Intelsat recently added a Point of Presence (PoP) in Miami, Fla., providing customers a gateway between Latin America and the world via IntelsatOne. The PoP is designed to not only enable global broadcasters to distribute content throughout Latin America, but to offer Latin American providers seamless access to new distribution markets around the world.

Contracts for Distribution Reflect Continued Demand for Diverse Content in North America

RRsat Global Communications Network Ltd. (NASDAQ: RRST), a leading provider of comprehensive content management and global distribution services to the television and radio broadcasting industries, recently signed a multi-year agreement on Galaxy 23 at 121° West for the delivery of high-definition video content to customers in North America.

In addition, media distribution company Overon America has signed two agreements for capacity with Intelsat on Galaxy 23. The contracts will enable the Miami-based company to distribute its international programming content to major multiple system operators and DTH providers across the United States.

Programmer in Asia-Pacific Leverages IntelsatOne MCPC Platform for Efficient Reach

Discovery Communications recently signed a multi-year agreement on Intelsat 19 for distribution of its high-definition content, from Intelsat’s MCPC platform in Singapore to cable headends across Asia-Pacific.

Leading Spanish Content Distributor Leverages Intelsat for Delivery to Cable Headends in Europe

Madrid-based Telefonica Global Solutions recently signed a multi-year agreement on Intelsat 905. The company plans to distribute its Chello Multicanal package of programming to cable headends across Spain and Portugal. Chello Multicanal is the leading independent producer of thematic channels in these countries.
