Broadpeak Welcomes Technicolor to the New Broadpeak Open Alliance

Integration of Broadpeak nanoCDN Technology Within Technicolor Broadband Gateways Promises to Optimize OTT Video Delivery

RENNES, France — Sept. 7, 2012 — Broadpeak, a leading provider of content delivery networks (CDN) technology and video-on-demand (VOD) servers for cable, IPTV, OTT, and hybrid TV operators worldwide, today announced that Technicolor has joined the brand new Broadpeak Open Alliance (BOA), an organization dedicated to accelerating the rollout of OTT video services. By integrating Broadpeak nanoCDN technology in its home gateways, Technicolor will contribute to the BOA’s goal of creating an open environment for OTT video delivery that fosters interoperability between third-party technology providers.

By enabling a best-of-breed approach to content delivery, the BOA allows content operators to select the best technology available for each component of the delivery chain, thereby optimizing the deployment of OTT services. Initially, the alliance will focus on creating interoperability between disparate home network components, such as Broadpeak’s nanoCDN technology with Technicolor’s broadband gateways’ open software. Broadpeak nanoCDN is a revolutionary CDN technology that leverages subscribers’ home networks to reduce an operator’s infrastructure investment dramatically, enabling them to deliver high-quality video services to end users more efficiently.

“We are thrilled to partner with Technicolor, the leading manufacturer of gateway solutions for the cable and telco markets, on this important initiative,” said Jacques Le Mancq, CEO, Broadpeak. “Broadpeak has been working closely with Technicolor over the last several months to integrate its nanoCDN technology seamlessly within Technicolor broadband gateways. The Broadpeak Open Alliance provides both companies with an ideal framework to offer our customers with a best-of-breed OTT delivery method.”
