MANCHESTER, England, May 21, 2013 – SOS Online Backup™, developed by Infrascale™, is expanding its list of cloud backup and recovery services for IT channel partners by offering its applications in a private cloud hosting model. This meets the growing demand from Great Britain’s Managed Service Providers and IT consultants to offer online backup that is stored within the country.
SOS Powers Online Backup Hosted in the UK
While many firms have found savings in infrastructure costs by hosting their online backups on a public cloud, very few firms actually store the data they protect inside the UK, or even the European Union. SOS Online Backup’s private cloud deployment model can be deployed inside a local data centre, including a Managed Server Provider’s data centre. Downstream clients can then be reassured that their data is stored inside the UK.
The Data Protection Act Mandate Doesn’t Have to Be a Challenge to UK Companies
While the DPA (Data Protection Act) penalizes firms who do not store business and customer data inside Great Britain, there are additional security risks involved in using public clouds. Hacks and other breaches of security are becoming increasingly common. CIOs have recognized this. In 2011, IDC reported that 53% of IT managers felt that private cloud hosting was more secure than public cloud hosting.
