Centrix Software Earns Place on Latest Government Cloud Initiative, G-Cloud 5

– Leading workspace management expert accepted into the UK Government’s 5th version of its G-Cloud framework

– Centrix Software continues its mission to transform IT in the public sector

Centrix Software, a leading workspace management expert, has been accepted into the Government’s latest G-Cloud framework, G-Cloud 5. This is the Government’s latest commitment to delivering cloud adoption across the public sector.

Centrix Software will be instrumental in supplying cloud services across the UK public sector, through ‘Lot 3’ of the G-Cloud programme. CloudStore, the Government’s approved supplier store, enables public sector bodies to review and purchase a variety of services – and Centrix Software’s WorkSpace iQ, its unique Software as a Service (SaaS) application usage analytics solution, will now be available. WorkSpace iQ has a new browser-based interface so any authorised user can access all the data and insights anytime, anywhere, on any device and via any browser.

Centrix Software’s research has shown that the average annual cost of running a central government desktop PC is over £1,500. WorkSpace iQ will give public sector organisations the essential analytics information they need to make decisions about their desktop environment, applications and IT infrastructure. Just by understanding the application usage and rationalising accordingly, up to £400 per PC could be saved.

Successful G-Cloud suppliers have been awarded a place on the framework by Crown Commercial services. Centrix Software will be able to deliver key components of the G-Cloud programme through the new framework agreement. This will allow the company to continue building relationships with UK public sector organisations, and presents the opportunity to further assist the Government in transforming public sector IT and service delivery.

The Cabinet Office states that by using G-Cloud’s CloudStore, public sector bodies are able to:

  • Avoid long contracts
  • Buy the exact amount of computing resources needed
  • Save money on maintenance and physical storage
  • Avoid custom-built solutions; which take a long time to create, are expensive and difficult to upgrade

In April 2014, it was reported that G-Cloud sales reached £154m and it’s been a major success for central and local governments. David Overton, Head of Alliances EMEA at Centrix Software stated, “We’re delighted to have been accepted to G-Cloud V5. We’re growing rapidly, increasing our client and partner portfolios and have been developing our Cloud and SaaS services over the past few years, so it‘s great to gain this recognition.”

Lisa Hammond, Centrix Software’s Co-Founder and CEO commented, “As part of the UK cloud revolution, companies providing SaaS Solutions are going to deliver tomorrow’s business value. Our SaaS solutions are quickly accessible and easy to use, helping organisations save money and deliver the next generation of IT. G-Cloud 5 is an emerging but very important framework and we’re proud to be part of the Government’s drive to transform the delivery of its IT. With more UK SMEs joining G-Cloud, it may help the Government live up to its pledge to spend 25 per cent of its budget with UK SMEs by 2015.”
