Fujitsu Extends “Choose Your Own Device” Line-up With New Generation LIFEBOOK Models

 ·         Refresh for LIFEBOOK clamshell, 2 in 1 and Ultrabook notebook models with latest, 5th generation Intel vPro Core processor family

·         Eight different notebooks and a mobile workstation now use a standard docking station, providing a guaranteed remedy to the common headache of docking compatibility

London, 20th January 2015 – Fujitsu today extends its popular LIFEBOOK mobile devices range with new models featuring the latest 5th generation Intel Core vPro processor family. With this line-up Fujitsu responds to the continuing trend of companies offering their workforce the opportunity to “choose your own device” that is right for their individual needs.

The new Fujitsu devices feature improved battery runtimes – with one model even capable of running 24 hours in dual battery configuration – and deliver higher processing performance. New models to join the LIFEBOOK range are slimmer and lighter than previous generations and offer a host of optional features such as touch screen technology (model dependent) plus must-have enterprise security like Trusted Platform Module.

Selected new LIFEBOOK models1 are also compatible with a standardised, universal docking station: The LIFEBOOK Family Docking Station can now be used with eight2 different models, including notebooks, 2 in 1 devices, Ultrabooks and even a mobile workstation.

New models joining the Fujitsu LIFEBOOK line-up:

·         The FUJITSU LIFEBOOK S935 – a versatile, lightweight notebook in the 33.8 cm (13.3-inch) category that is popular with frequent travelers, offering a runtime of up to 24 hours3 – plus Fujitsu’s innovative PalmVein Sensor4 for additional security

·         The FUJITSU LIFEBOOK T935 – a 33.8 cm (13.3-inch) 2 in 1 device that combines the flexibility of a tablet with the power, long battery runtime and super-thin design of an Ultrabook

·         The FUJITSU LIFEBOOK T725 – a smaller, 31.8 cm (12.5-inch) 2 in 1 device that fits the new family docking station, designed to enable users to optimize their productivity through its modular bay concept, where the optical drive can be replaced with a second battery, a second hard drive or a weight-saving blanking plate

·         The FUJITSU LIFEBOOK U745 – a 35.6 cm (14-inch) slim and light Ultrabook that provides the best of both worlds for professionals craving optimum mobility and requiring full connectivity like a VGA output – also adding an additional security layer with PalmVein Sensor technology and compatibility with the new family docking station

New common family docking station for extra convenience and reduced TCO

By standardising on a new common dock for select LIFEBOOK models, users can enjoy the convenience of desktop computing when in the office – with their device jacked in to the main power supply and instantly connected to external displays, an Ethernet network and external USB peripherals such as keyboards, mice and other accessories. The compatible models snugly click in to the dock – without any need to reboot – and undocking is a one-handed operation that simply requires the flick of a switch.

Fujitsu’s new docking station standard lowers total cost of ownership (TCO) since it means a reduction in expenditure on computing hardware and the ability to re-use existing docks when models reach the end of their lifecycle. Meanwhile mobile workers benefit from simply being able to dock-and-work in hot-desk environments, without needing to buy or carry multiple cables and adaptors.

Jörg Hartmann, Vice President Global Client Computing Devices at Fujitsu, says: “We have recognised that organisations now want to give their workforce more choice when it comes to their business machines. At Fujitsu, we are able to offer a wide range of Client Computing Devices, so when updating our popular LIFEBOOK models, we also took the opportunity to standardise on docking stations, and therefore solve an everyday annoyance for users. This is another example of how Fujitsu’s Human Centric product design makes it appealing for people to use our devices, and helps the bottom line of businesses too.”

Pricing and availability varies according to specification. LIFEBOOK models will begin arriving at UK distributors from February.

The line-up of the new LIFEBOOK products will be shown at Mobile World Congress, Barcelona from March 2 – 5, 2015. Fujitsu will be at booth 5A40 in Hall 5.
