A thousand events bloom

Spring 2022 Update - spring field A thousand events bloom
It has been an historic quarter for world events, some of which have had significant impacts for the global wireless cellular industry. Supply chain challenges and geopolitical disruptions have put some strain on the relationships of our industry, but they have not extinguished the need for people to remain connected.

5G networks themselves are in the spring time of their life cycle. With global 5G connections reaching 521 million connections last year, the forecast is for 1.3 billion by the end of this year. The growth of 5G connectivity flourished unabated, as North America notched 72 million connections at the end of 2021 – a 292 percent increase over last year.

In the US, operators work to find agreements with the aviation industry, federal agencies accelerate their cooperation on spectrum planning, and a slew of daily 5G announcements highlight the importance of strong partnerships and ecosystems for the success of private networks and Open RAN. All so important in ensuring wireless connectivity can continue while demand for mobile data continues to double every 20 months.

So as the weather warms, wireless industry event planners are working to rekindle the face-to-face interactions and meetings that we need as humans. 5G Americas has been busy planning and attending great events in this new hybrid in-person / virtual world and look forward to seeing many of you at upcoming live or virtual events in AustinDetroitLondon, and so much more.

Let’s meet up!
