Accedo announces next generation cross platform development solution for connected TV devices

Stockholm, November 26, 2013 – Accedo, the global market leader in TV application solutions, today announced the official launch of the Accedo XDK, the most advanced cross platform development kit for Smart TV devices and game consoles.

Accedo’s XDK provides a professional approach to the industry fragmentation by offering a framework which enables an enhanced development process by using reusable modular components and a flexible device abstraction layer.

The Accedo XDK is the secret sauce behind hundreds of cross-platform application deployments for Accedo’s blue chip customer base and has played an instrumental role in the company’s global success story.

“Our clients across the globe all need to overcome the platform fragmentation and the Accedo XDK has proven to be a popular solution not only to lower cross platform development costs, but also to improve software maintenance and application lifecycle management,” commented Michael Lantz, CEO, Accedo.

“The Accedo XDK is a consistent and powerful development framework for TV apps. The possibility of maintaining one code base for multiple application platforms is exactly what is needed to lower maintenance costs and make it possible to focus on features and functionality instead of porting between platforms. The Accedo XDK made it possible for us to launch NOW TV on LG Smart TV on time and budget,” commented Gideon Katz, Director of NOW TV at BSkyB.

“The Accedo XDK underpins a number of platforms in the Rogers Anyplace TV connected device rollout,” commented Frank Crombeen, Director of Development and Operations, Broadband Video at Rogers Communications. “By using this framework, we are maximizing cross-platform code reuse and improving our time to market.”

“The Accedo XDK proves Accedo’s unparalleled application experience and solves the problem of platform fragmentation. Now we can focus on application features instead of application maintenance across devices,” commented Matti Zemack, CMORE Entertainment.

“Accedo have played a key role in Foxtel’s rapid multiplatform expansion. Their experience and knowledge has been vital in dealing with the disparate number of manufacturers’ devices that we have now deployed upon,” said Michael Ivanchenko, Foxtel’s Director of Product.

The Accedo XDK is a licensable product that is available to all Accedo clients. Furthermore, XDK will also be offered as a bundled component for all customers using Accedo AppGrid™, the multi-platform application management product.
