Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, Spain, 25th February 2014Accedo, the global market leader in TV application solutions, today announced that it has been selected by Telecable, the quadruple play cable provider in Asturias region and one of the main cable operator in Spain, to power its TV Everywhere service in Spain.

The service is the first fully featured TV Everywhere service in Spain to enable 40 linear channels in addition to video on demand movies and TV shows to be played from Android tablets or smartphones.

The application is powered by Accedo’s TV Everywhere solution, including Accedo’s TV Everywhere reference applications, which are used for rapid multi-platform development with full UI compliance.

“We believe this new service will be a compelling extension for our customers, enabling them to watch great content at anytime, on Android mobile and tablets devices,” commented Jesús Pérez Iglesias, CTO, Telecable. “Accedo’s experience delivering compelling applications to a range of devices made them the natural choice to partner on this project.”

“We are delighted to be working with Telecable and its multiplatform TV Everywhere service,” commented Michael Lantz, CEO, Accedo. “Telecable is an innovative company, bringing an advanced TV Everywhere service to the Spanish market, which will considerably extend its reach and  portfolio of services to their customers.”

Despite the recession in the country, this rate exceeds that of the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Germany. We truly believe in the potential for Spain to be on the forefront of the future TV experience” commented Jerónimo Macanás, VP Southern Europe and Latin America, Accedo. “Telecable is embracing the innovation in the TV space and we are thrilled to be working with them for this exciting service.”
