Accedo VIApowers Lightbox

Stockholm, 28 August 2014 – Accedo, the global market leader in TV application solutions, today announced that its multiscreen solution, Accedo VIA™, is powering Telecom New Zealand’s new Lightbox TV service.

Lightbox is a new subscription video-on-demand service, available to all New Zealand homes with broadband internet connections regardless of ISP and is being officially launched today with around 5000 hours of programming. Including exclusive television series and a range of back-catalogue TV shows.

The Lightbox user interface is powered by Accedo’s multiscreen solution, Accedo VIA™, which enables operators, such as Telecom New Zealand, to launch compelling VOD and Linear TV services more quickly across multiple platforms. In this initial phase, Accedo has deployed an Accedo VIA™ powered website and iPad app for Lightbox, with more Accedo VIA™ supported device platforms set to launch shortly. Telecom New Zealand has utilized the Accedo VIATM user interface templates, to enable efficient development of engaging and proven user experiences.

The service is also backed by Accedo AppGrid™, a key component of the Accedo VIA™ solution. Accedo AppGrid™ is a cloud hosted application and website management platform with an intuitive administration user interface, to manage, configure and analyze the applications. AppGrid™ allows multiscreen product owners better real time control over their applications and gives them the flexibility to respond to business needs immediately.

“Thanks to Accedo VIA™, we were able to quickly deploy our initial Ligthbox  applications and can now give New Zealanders the freedom to watch compelling content on their terms,” commented Mike McMahon Chief Technology Officer at Lightbox, Telecom New Zealand. “We want viewers to discover shows they’ll love, and have the freedom to watch them when and how they want. Lightbox powered by Accedo VIA™, enables exactly that.”

“Consumers are demanding content on any device, anywhere,” commented Michael Lantz, CEO, Accedo. “Services like this from leading operators around the world such as Telecom New Zealand are particularly compelling, offering a wide range of exclusive content across multiple platforms.”

“We are extremely excited about the launch of the new Lightbox applications and are especially proud that the apps have leveraged the power of Accedo VIA™” commented Matt Kossatz, VP Australia and New Zealand, Accedo.
