IBC, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, September 13, 2013 ACCESS CO., LTD, a global provider of advanced software technologies to the mobile, beyond-PC and digital TV markets, today announced that its ACCESS NetFrontTM Browser NX 3.0 has been integrated with STMicroelectronics’ new-generation set-top box platforms, STiH207  and STiH416 (”Orly”).

“With the increasing importance of HTML5 browser performance for new-generation set-top boxes, the availability of the NetFrontTM Browser NX HTML5 platform on our set-top box devices provides the market with an industry-proven powerful browser engine,” says André-louis Bertrand, Strategic Marketing Director, Unified Platform Division, STMicroelectronics.

NetFrontTM Browser NX 3.0 will be commercially available first with the STiH207-based system-on-chip (SoC) family, which incorporates an enhanced processing engine with integrated on-chip features that simplify set-top-box design, enable operators to take advantage of lower-cost memories, and meet the latest low-power objectives.

NetFront Browser NX 3.0 is also being ported to the advanced STiH416 SoC platform, which supports a full multimedia ecosystem and top performance enabling operators to offer the widest possible variety of innovative and value-added services to their subscribers.

NetFrontTM Browser NX is a TV-Centric enhanced WebKit browser supporting and utilizing the latest HTML5 technologies to provide a TV UI engine that delivers the greatly enriched user experiences, including 3D graphics and animations, which operators are asking for.

NetFrontTM Browser NX DTV Profile supports CE-HTML and has been also expanded to support a wide range of digital TV broadcasting and interactive TV standards, including HbbTV, BBC iPlayer v3, and the Japanese VOD Networked Digital Television specifications. NetFront Browser NX DTV Profile makes it possible for digital TV, set-top-box and device manufacturers as well as service providers to quickly bring to the market high value-added devices and services enabling delivery of diverse HTML5 content and applications such as portals, email, chat, games as well as full internet browsing capabilities.
