ACCESS “NetFront™ Living Connect” Media Sharing Enables Operators Choosing the TiVo® Premiere DVR To Stay In Control and Embrace the Multiscreen Future

IBC, Amsterdam, September 10, 2012 − ACCESS CO., LTD, a global provider of advanced software technologies to the mobile, beyond-PC and digital TV markets, today announced that TiVo has chosen ACCESS’ NetFront™ Living Connect media sharing solution to allow consumers with a TiVo® Premiere DVR to enjoy content from personal computers, network attached storage devices, tablets, smartphones and other connected consumer devices on their main TV. This media sharing solution, based on Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) industry standards, provides consumers with access to three worlds of entertainment content – TV, web and personal media – through one box.

“Moving forward, the set-top box will provide the vital entertainment ‘real estate’ to differentiate a broadcast service from other offerings and will play a critical role in ensuring  broadcast experiences far richer than today’s over-the-top (OTT) content experience,” said Joshua Danovitz, GM/VP International, TiVo Inc.

TiVo Premiere enables users to find, record, and enjoy all forms of broadcast and broadband entertainment in a reimagined, visually stunning HD user interface. Premiere connects to a cable service with a CableCARD™ decoder and replaces the cable box to provide access to an entire universe of on-demand movies, TV shows, web videos, and music for rent or purchase.

“Today, operators are launching OTT and multiscreen alongside the broadcast experience, while looking to reduce churn and increase their ROIs,” said Danovitz. “With the ACCESS-powered TiVo Premiere solution, operators can brand the user interface and consumers will no longer need to add extra boxes or buy OTT services from other sources.”

“The TiVo multiscreen solution is great news for network operators and consumers,” said Dr. Neale Foster, VP of Global Sales, Internet Appliances, ACCESS. “Our secured media sharing solution allows TiVo to provide its broadcast customers with a multiscreen set-top box that gives their consumers the ability to enjoy their favorite content from any connected device on the TV.”

NetFront Living Connect is the market-leading DLNA Technology Component™ solution for multi-screen media sharing on consumer electronics and home networks. It has been integrated with the middleware of the TiVo Premiere DVR to enable consumers to access TV, web and personal media. The ACCESS solution also includes a DTCP-IP security module, a key enabler of wireless multiroom PVR functionality and other advanced media sharing applications. The solution will ship in Q4 2012.
