for Rapid Deployment of Prepaid Broadband Services

Framingham, MA – January 29, 2014— Active Broadband Networks, the leading supplier of software-defined broadband service management solutions, today announced its new Prepaid Service System (PPSS), an integrated solution for automated prepaid transaction processing and service activation that enables the Web-based activation of cable modems at the subscriber premise using standard credit or debit card transactions. The PPSS enables cable operators to rapidly deploy prepaid broadband services independent of existing provisioning and billing systems.

Active Broadband’s PPSS streamlines the process of prepaid service deployment by automatically enabling the activation of cable modems at the subscriber premise via a captive web portal using standard credit or debit card transactions. This takes place independent of existing provisioning and billing systems, so the prepaid customer doesn’t have to be in the billing system and there is no service order handled by the provisioning system. Using the PPSS, the cable operator offers a pre-defined selection of services available to customers, including bandwidth, speed and price options. Upon approval of the service transaction by merchant processing, the PPSS interacts with the modem to enable a boot configuration that corresponds to the specific services that customer has paid for and the service is dynamically activated. When service expires or usage thresholds are exceeded, service requests are redirected back to the web portal.
