Alcatel-Lucent and Tunisie Telecom sign three-year agreement to extend ultra-broadband services throughout Tunisia
Tunisie Telecom to upgrade connections for thousands of customers in order to provide higher quality voice calls, faster Internet access, and new services
Tunis/Paris February 18, 2014 – Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) and Tunisie Telecom, the leading telecommunications provider in Tunisia, have today announced a three-year agreement to transform the carrier’s voice and data network, paving the way for ultra-broadband access services for residential and enterprise customers throughout Tunisia.
Tunisie Telecom has selected Alcatel-Lucent’s market-leading Intelligent Services Access Manager (ISAM) portfolio to upgrade tens of thousands of existing voice line to provide high-speed broadband using ADSL, VDSL and GPON technology.
The agreement follows the successful trial of VDSL2 Vectoring technology in December 2012, using Alcatel-Lucent’s Intelligent Services Access Manager (ISAM) 7302 platform running on Tunisie’s existing copper cable infrastructure. VDSL2 vectoring technology enables a smooth migration path towards 100 Mbps ultra-broadband that can support a wide range applications like video-on-demand and online gaming for consumers and secure point-to-point Ethernet services for enterprise.
