Alcatel-Lucent appoints new CEO for Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell

Alcatel-Lucent appoints Luis Martinez-Amago as CEO of its flagship company in China, Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell

Former Europe, Middle East And Africa President moves to become head of key pillar in Alcatel-Lucent’s global strategy

Paris, January 05, 2015Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) has appointed Luis Martinez-Amago as CEO of Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell (ASB), its flagship company in China, effective January 1, 2015. 

Based in Shanghai, Mr. Martinez-Amago will be responsible for ASB’s business in and outside of China, as well as its key contribution to the Alcatel-Lucent group’s R&D and global operation supply chain.

Mr. Martinez-Amago takes up this new position having served as president of Alcatel-Lucent’s activities in Europe, Middle East and Africa. He has extensive experience of the telecommunication industry, running several Alcatel-Lucent businesses, including its fixed access, applications and wireless transmission divisions. He has been based in London, Vienna, Antwerp, Paris, Madrid and Barcelona, where he joined the company 26 years ago.

“China plays a crucial role in Alcatel-Lucent’s overall transformation and global business development,” said Michel Combes, CEO of Alcatel-Lucent, “Luis – with his track record and extensive experience in general management, commercial and product activities – will enable ASB to build its strategic position in the market and in Alcatel-Lucent’s global roadmap, as the group pursues the second chapter of The Shift Plan, focused on innovation, transformation and growth.”

Commenting on Mr. Martinez-Amago’s appointment, Yuan Xin, chairman of Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell said: “Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell has been a key pillar of Alcatel-Lucent for the last 30 years and will continue to be so with Luis at its helm. He will apply his outstanding capabilities in the continuation of ASB’s journey inside and outside of China”.

Luis Martinez-Amago holds a Bachelors degree in Engineering in Telecommunication.
