Velocix content delivery network to underpin cloud-based advanced video services

Paris, France, September 14, 2015

Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) is to enable the ‘triple-play’ service provider Totalplay to expand its IPTV service in Mexico through the deployment of its Velocix content delivery network platform.

Totalplay is responding to growing customer demand in Mexico for premium video content that can be accessed over any mobile or fixed device, be it a smartphone, tablet, TV or a PC. Consumers in Central and South America – particularly in large cities served by Totalplay – are an increasing part of the global trend for greater access to live, on-demand and time-shifted video content over any device, anywhere.

Alcatel-Lucent’s Velocix content delivery network enables Totalplay to extend its new cloud-based, IP technology-driven Anytime Tv™ service beyond Mexico City and Guadalajara to the cities of Monterrey, Puebla and Toluca, adding ultra-broadband access to high definition and interactive TV services and applications, Video on Demand and time-shifted content.

Alcatel-Lucent will replace Totalplay’s existing technology with its 7810 Velocix Digital Media Delivery Platform, enabling the operator to quickly and easily increase coverage for Anytime Tv™ beyond today’s 200,000 customers. The technology will also allow Totalplay to deliver next-generation video services nationwide while ensuring an optimal viewing experience across any device screen.
