Alcatel-Lucent gives Swisscom’s customers more flexibility and choice by moving personal video recording to the cloud

Swisscom gives customers the ability to view their recordings on multiple screens whenever they choose

Paris, June 28, 2012 – Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) is enabling Swisscom – Switzerland’s leading telecommunications provider – to give its customers the ability to record TV programs and store them in the cloud and then watch their recordings on any connected screen wherever they are, whenever they want. The service will help Swisscom further differentiate their IPTV offering and increase revenues by attracting new customers.

Jorg Nonnenmacher, Vice President of Alcatel-Lucent’s multiscreen activities said: “Alcatel-Lucent has applied its expertise in video systems integration to free Swisscom’s customers from the limitations of set top boxes with built-in hard-drives – that have limited storage capacity and are often prone to repair. From now on they are able to consume their recorded video content on any connected device such as tablets, mobile phones or PCs.”

Bruno Haug, Head of TV Development at Swisscom said: “We are pleased to continue our tradition of innovation and offering best-in-class customer service by being the first operator in Switzerland to offer our customers the possibility to watch their recordings on any connected screen. As part of the increasing demand for multiscreen services around the world, our customers want to record as much video as possible and access it not just on their television sets but also on other devices such as smart phones, tablets and PCs.”
