Alcatel-Lucent providing next-generation IP transport networks to Thailand’s True Corporation

Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) has signed a four-year frame agreement with Thailand’s True Corporation to supply an IP transport network.

True is Thailand’s fastest growing mobile operator, the country’s leading 3G provider and sole provider of 4G LTE services, as well as being the country’s largest Internet and cable service provider. The upgraded network will converge True’s mobile, cable and Internet backhaul over a common network. At the same time it will provide ultra-broadband speeds of up to 100G across True’s businesses, providing a clear network evolution from 3G to 4G LTE.

Key Facts:

• The new metro network has the agility, scale and efficiency needed to meet the demands of new application driven, on demand services. This helps True deliver mobile, residential, business and cloud services via a future proof architecture which supports high capacity metro aggregation and transport with speeds of 100G and higher.
• Alcatel-Lucent’s simplified architecture for True’s mobile backhaul and broadband network will provide scalability, a single management system as well as one with reduced power and space requirements
• True’s customers will benefit from increased reliability as well as increased bandwidth access to meet their surging data demands
• Agreement encompasses Bangkok, accounting for 65 percent of  Thailand’s telecommunications traffic, and overall covers more than 15 million mobile subscribers and more than one million broadband households
• Alcatel-Lucent technology supplied to True for IP Routing includes: 7705 Service Aggregation Router (SAR), 7210 Service Access Switch (SAS), 7450 Ethernet Service Switch (ESS), 7750 Service Router (SR),  5620 Service Aware Manager (SAM)
