Alcatel-Lucent receives world-class recognition for industry leadership and ‘Gold Class’ performance in sustainability
Alcatel-Lucent recognized as top-scoring company for communications equipment in RobecoSAM’s 2014 edition of The Sustainability Yearbook, the leading publication on corporate sustainability
Paris, January 22, 2014 – Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) has announced that it has received the Industry Leader and Gold Class Sustainability Award 2014 for the Communications Equipment industry by RobecoSAM, the investment specialist focused exclusively on sustainable investing.
The RobecoSAM awards recognize companies with the highest scores within their respective industries, and that are best prepared to both seize the opportunities and manage the risks deriving from economic, environmental and social developments.
The RobecoSAM Sustainability Yearbook lists the top-scoring 15% of the world’s largest 2,000 companies across 59 different industries as determined by their score in their annual Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA). A total of 70 companies were named to the 2014 Gold Class — putting Alcatel-Lucent among the top 3.5% of companies assessed.
For the Communications Equipment industry, a total of 13 companies were assessed by RobecoSAM in 2013. Alcatel-Lucent received the top scores for this industry with an overall best score of 91/100.
The assessment recognizes Alcatel-Lucent’s commitment to sustainability, based on the following criteria:
– Economic – such as compliance policy and the company’s zero-tolerance of corruption and bribery, along with its corporate governance, privacy protection and risk and crisis management;
– Environmental – including the strategy to reduce the company‘s carbon footprint, management of hazardous substances, product stewardship and commitment to energy efficiency in products;
– Social – such as digital inclusion, human capital development, labor practice indicators and human rights, as well as talent attraction and retention.
