Alcatel-Lucent to build and maintain SBB’s Next Generation Network
Network transformation completing in 2020 to support passenger, mission-critical and business operations, ensuring always-on connectivity and enhanced safety and efficiency
Paris, France, December 16, 2015
- Alcatel-Lucent will deploy an integrated IP/MPLS and optical network to support a wide array of communications services, allowing SBB to maintain its high-standards of service reliability and customer satisfaction while optimizing costs. It will allow the company to better prepare for future increases in passenger and freight traffic and introduce new passenger services.
- Alcatel-Lucent’s integrated IP/Optical infrastructure, which uses a common management platform, will allow SBB to streamline its network operations, improve its responsiveness to increased and dynamic traffic demands and better use its network resources.
- The networking infrastructure will support mission-critical services such as Interlocking, CCTV, train control, signalling and GSM-R, as well as business communications used by SBB employees, ticketing services, passenger connectivity in the railway stations and other services.
