OMA Announces Line Up of Demonstrations at Mobile Asia Expo 2014

Industry leading vendors and operators come together to demonstrate next generation mobile technologies

San Diego- CA –June 9, 2014 The industry leading standards organisation for mobile service enablers, the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) will be exhibiting for the first time at Mobile Asia Expo, 11 to 13 June, at the New Shanghai International Expo Centre in Shanghai, booth N2.D64.

The Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) will premier unique demonstrations from ZTE, Comverse and Red Bend Software, amongst others, in an exciting session at Mobile Asia Expo. Visitors will gain an exclusive preview into up-and-coming technologies across the entire wireless value chain, some of which are not yet commercially available, as well as how open specifications play a part in enabling current and future mobile services.

“We are pleased to be bringing such innovations to Asia to showcase how the OMA and its member companies are enabling broader adoption and delivering open specifications,” said Seth Newberry, General Manager of the Open Mobile Alliance. “These are just a small handful of member companies who are currently contributing and adopting OMA specifications within the industry. Other OMA members within the China region include Huawei, China Mobile Communications, China Telecommunications Corp. and China Unicom and we are looking to show other companies that now is the perfect time to explore how OMA can help them deploy products and services featuring global interoperability.”

ZTE’s iTOP solution, featuring OMA QoS and Messaging APIs helps operators provide innovative traffic products. The iTOP solution features sliced volume as a commodity, forward/reverse charge mode, flexible volume products, multiple-dimension traffic card, automatic service provisioning and quick deployment. The main features include a volume card with flexible charging schemas, directional and shared volume card, shared volume card, multiple charging policies, end-to-end automatic deployment, integrated end user interface with APP or SDK for APP and QOS control enabling QOS as a service.

Red Bend Software will have one demonstration for the automotive industry and one demonstration for the enterprise mobile management market.  First, Red Bend will show how its software management solutions can securely and reliably manage the entire connected car – from the head unit to in-vehicle infotainment to ECUs. Red Bend does this by leveraging its latest innovations in Type-1 virtualization and OMA DM SCOMO based over-the-air (OTA) software management solutions. Red Bend will also demonstrate enterprise mobility managementin support of the OMA draft standard VirMO (Virtualization Management Object), which will show how different entities can manage each virtualized OS on a dual-persona smartphone used for BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). Using OMA DM-based management infrastructure, mobile operators can manage the consumer’s personal phone, while enterprise IT administrators can manage the consumer’s work phone.

Comverse will be focusing on the evolution of service experience, Comverse ECS enables CSPs to leverage their key assets to become an integral part of subscribers’ digital lifestyle and delivers on-premises, virtualized and cloud-based SaaS models, facilitating CSP progress along their IP evolution path. This demonstration will showcase capabilities that the telecom industry must offer to maintain viability and examples will include cross device, cross platform, conversion centric, multi-tasking, search within conversation history and easy group management.

Friendly Technologies, a provider of unified OMA-DM and TR-069 device management solutions for mobile and fixed operators, will be showcasing the following solutions; Internet of Things (IoT) ─ Clients and Servers and QoE Monitoring for VoIP and IPTV. The solutions Friendly Technologies provide streamline the entire broadband service life cycle (deployment, monitoring and support), enabling operators to increase customer satisfaction while reducing operational costs.

Gemalto will be demonstrating how their Push App Solution helps mobile operators deploy applications onto their customers’ smartphones. This will include how the server downloads a mobile agent onto Android smartphones using the OMA DM standard to manage the smartphone and the how the Gemalto solution deploys mobile operator services and applications over the air.

CSR will be demonstrating indoor location-based services using the SiRFusion platform, which utilizes the OMA secure User Plane Location (SUPL) enabler for location aiding and standard OMA interfaces for data transfer. The demonstration will feature indoor navigation, showing how it is fully crowd sourced and not dependent on new infrastructure or infrastructure upgrades being installed. The solution is available as either a silicon based solution, running on CSR’s GNSS devices, or as a software solution for use in the application space.

The demonstrations, all enabled by specifications developed by OMA member companies, will give attendees the opportunity to see how OMA Enablers can help deploy products and services with the broadest reach and are interoperable across networks, devices and geographic boundaries.

The OMA and its members companies will be exhibiting on booth N2.D64 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Shanghai from 11 to 13 June. To arrange a press interview or meeting on membership with the OMA please contact beth.dyson@proactive-pr.com.
