ARQIVA REDEFINES IPTV FOR FREEVIEW

Box TV the first hybrid ground-breaking Freeview portal

Arqiva, the communications infrastructure and media service company, has announced the addition of Box TV to its Connect TV platform.  Connect TV enables broadcasters to provide the Freeview audience with an enhanced TV experience: more choice, more functionality and more content.  Connect TV can deliver content to the Freeview EPG as a single channel, channel portal, hybrid DTT and IP channel and can support pay.  The platform’s reporting and analytics enable broadcasters to gain a much deeper insight into how their audiences are viewing and interacting with their channels.

Freeview viewers with internet-enabled TVs or set-top boxes will now have three more channels to choose from with Magic, Kiss and Kerrang! now being available alongside the already popular, 4Music.  Using Arqiva’s Connect TV platform, Box TV can get much closer to the fast-growing connected TV audience.  It has allowed them to develop a viewer destination for music lovers, they can now provide viewers with additional content with the press of a red button.

Julie Wright, business development and commercial director at Box TV, said: “Music and TV consumption patterns are changing and we are now able to meet our core 16-34 audiences on their preferred connected device and on compatible Freeview devices. We know that editorialised music videos and music programming are still a key consumer choice for music discovery and to be able to offer this choice via Connect TV’s solution, is fantastic for consumers, advertisers and the music industry alike.”

Charles Constable, managing director of Digital Platforms at Arqiva said: “Connect TV is the smart, simple way to reach the growing connected audience. It enables broadcasters to give connected TV viewers what they want: an enhanced TV experience with more choice, more functionality and more content.

Box TV continues to recognise the need for a deeper relationship with their audience and we are pleased to be working with them.

The Connect TV service is available to broadcasters now and Box’s TV’s Freeview portal is live from today.”
