TEMS Investigation 15.2 Enables Mobile Network Operators to Optimize Network Performance for iPhone Users Worldwide

RESTON, VA, September 17, 2013 — Ascom Network Testing, a leader in broadband mobile network testing technology, today announced a new release of its industry-leading drive test solution, TEMS Investigation 15.2, designed for testing with iPhone.

Drive testing enables mobile operators to validate their network service quality by equipping vehicles with computers, devices and modems that capture network performance data while driving specified coverage routes. Mobile operators can now use the industry’s most widely used drive testing technology to measure network services using iPhone to determine precisely what customers are experiencing.

Ascom’s TEMS Investigation 15.2 is now the only Radio Access Network (RAN) testing product that measures network performance from the iPhone user perspective, providing mobile network operators with critical data that can be used to optimize network performance. With this technology, mobile network operators will know that their TEMS Investigation iPhone-based testing units will support iOS7 as well as future updates.

“Ascom is pleased to deliver a broadband wireless testing solution to mobile network operators. We believe that this solution will provide great benefits for operators, and ultimately greater benefits for iPhone users, as networks are further optimized for broadband performance,” said Rikard Lundqvist, General Manager, Ascom Network Testing. “We are proud to now offer an integrated solution for iPhone that meets our standard of offering products that are supported by our technology partners,” he said.

“This is a significant step forward for mobile network operators who really need an iPhone-supported testing solution,” said Olga Yashkova, Program Manager, Communications Test & Measurement Practice at Frost & Sullivan. “With operators betting their future on providing an optimal Customer Experience, it is critical to have reliable network testing tools that address premium usage subscribers, especially iPhone users,” she said.

Ascom customers can also leverage TEMS™ Discovery, Ascom’s network analytics platform, to mine data collected from iPhone TEMS Investigation tests in order to analyze and troubleshoot network performance issues. The system produces actionable reports in a management dashboard that enable network managers to quickly assess a wide range of quality of service metrics.

TEMS Investigation 15.2 is available immediately to mobile operator partners. Mobile operators can visit www.ascom.com/nt to learn more about the solution and for product ordering.

In addition to TEMS Investigation and  TEMS™ Discovery, Ascom also offers TEMS™  Pocket – its smartphone-based measurement tool;  TEMS™  Monitor Master, its application services testing platform; TEMS™ Automatic, its unattended testing platform; and TEMS™ Symphony, its multi-channel benchmarking platform,  as part of the TEMS™  Portfolio, a suite of advanced mobile network testing technology that enables mobile operators to cost effectively grow network capacity, boost operational efficiency and ensure a premium customer experience.  The TEMS Portfolio leverages a unified software architecture that enables the industry’s most accurate and reliable data collection probes, and integrates with an advanced analytics and reporting platform.  The TEMS Portfolio empowers mobile operators to optimize performance and troubleshoot network issues related to a wide spectrum of sources: from end user handsets (UE) and application services such as Skype and YouTube, to network configuration and parameter settings.
