Assertive Software announces deal with Nokia Siemens Networks

HIPPO will optimise global Informatica environments and recharge accurate costs to the business

Powerful, Browser-Based Performance Tool Available Today on Informatica Marketplace

September, 14, 2011 – Assertive Software, the specialist in extending functionality of Informatica PowerCenter, has announced a new deal with Nokia Siemens Networks for HIPPO, its powerful, browser-based performance tool for Informatica PowerCenter.  Informatica PowerCenter allows organisations to access and integrate data from virtually any business system then deliver that data throughout the enterprise.

Nokia Siemens Networks will use HIPPO as part of its Informatica PowerCenter environment.  HIPPO will allow the team to continuously monitor their Informatica production systems to check on measurables such as hardware utilisation and the performance of commonly used transactions.  For the first time, HIPPO will also be used to calculate and recharge usage costs for the Informatica implementation to the business.  This will enable Nokia Siemens Networks to ensure that charges are fairly assigned to different departments or new product/service launches.

Mark Connelly, Business Development Director of Assertive Software, said: “At a time when cost sensitivity has never been higher it seems that sharing costs across a Grid remains a black art.  We are seeing increasing demand from large and complex businesses to understand the true costs of their Informatica environment.  There are two imperatives: understanding the utilisation of their Informatica hub, and charging fairly for that utilisation.  Most organisations divide the costs of their hub and staff roughly between different departments.  By understanding exactly how much resource a team or department is using, they can instead allocate a more exact proportion of the costs.

“This is fairer for the business but also helps to secure return on investment in the Informatica environment.  If organisations fail to recover just 20% of rechargeable costs from a hub with annual running costs of £500,000, they will miss out on £100,000 of recharges that can be accurately factored into departmental or project budgets.”

Ville Elomaa, Service Manager at Nokia Siemens Networks said: “Not only has HIPPO given us the ability to manage our Informatica environment more effectively, but we now have the information we need to allocate the costs of providing the Informatica hub to the business on a more accurate basis.”

Nokia Siemens Networks operates in 150 countries and is a leading enabler of telecommunications services.  It provides mobile, fixed and converged network technology, as well as professional services including consultancy and systems integration, deployment, maintenance and managed services.

HIPPO is an extremely versatile tool and is available on the Informatica Marketplace, the goto destination for buying and selling proven solutions to augment, extend, or enhance your data integration implementation.

HIPPO has been awarded the Informatica Seal of Approval, which means that it has undergone rigorous lifecycle testing and validation procedures performed by Informatica engineers.

“HIPPO has had good traction and success on the Marketplace and is a great addition to our 270 ‘Blocks’,” said Scott Geffre, Senior Director, Informatica Marketplace. “HIPPO allows Informatica users to monitor and analyse the entire Informatica environment, including production, test, development and grid all from a single web based browser. Its capabilities have proven to be valuable to our customers, especially as organizations continue to focus on gaining efficiencies and improving business results.”
