ATIS Enters Into Cooperation Agreement with the Telecommunications Standards Development Society, India

WASHINGTON — The Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) and the Telecommunications Standards Development Society, India (TSDSI) are pleased to announce the signing of a letter of intent to cooperate with the expressed purpose of exchanging knowledge and expertise. The agreement will help the organizations perform and promote, directly or indirectly, regional and international standardization contributing to establishment of a global information infrastructure.

“The agreement strengthens ATIS’ relationship with the newly founded and recognized organization for telecommunications standards development in India.  It reflects a shared vision regarding the importance of our work in global commerce,” said ATIS President and CEO Susan Miller.  “Our areas of mutual interest have been strategically mapped to allow for effective collaboration, recognizing that standardization efforts increasingly have a global impact.  From wireless to broadband to emerging applications, standards are vital to ensuring that new ICT products and services can be deployed effectively worldwide.”

“Evolution of the Networked Society is on an ever-accelerating trajectory,” said Dr. Asok Chatterjee, TSDSI Executive Director of Standardization.  “Cooperation among the players in the standardization ecosystem will be essential. It will result in widely applicable ICT solutions across geographies and vertical industry segments. TSDSI looks forward to working closely with ATIS towards achieving that goal.”

ATIS and TSDSI are committed to avoiding duplication of technical work and both benefit from adopting a complementary approach to the standardization process in the areas of mutual interest. The cooperation letter specifically addresses collaboration on development of studies and research projects, participation in industry events and congresses, and participation in each other’s promotional publications.
