ATIS Expands Its Technology Expertise Through New Leadership

WASHINGTON — ATIS announced today that Andrew White has joined the organization as its new Vice President of Technology and Standards. White brings both industry experience as a 20-year information and communications technology (ICT) veteran and direct contributions through ATIS committee work, most recently as Chair and a member of the founding leadership team of the organization’s Cloud Services Forum (CSF). White previously served as a Principal Consultant for Nokia Siemens Networks, Technical Director at Qwest and as a Battalion Signal Officer for the U.S. Army. As Vice President of Technology and Standards, he will oversee the strategic work of ATIS’ Technology and Operations (TOPS) Council, its CIO Council and the global standards development activities of the organization’s committees.

“Andrew has a long-standing track record of delivering results in the areas of ICT business development, technology strategy, product development, network architecture and quality assurance,” said ATIS President and CEO Susan Miller. “With his broad industry experience, including his previous contributions as a leader and subject matter expert that helped progress ATIS’ work in several key areas, we believe he will excel in his new role.  We see him as an asset in helping our members advance their business priorities through ATIS’ technology initiatives.”

Specifically, through White’s leadership, CSF: published three specifications for Content Delivery Network – Interconnection; delivered inter-provider telepresence specifications and a prototype; issued the Cloud Services Lifecycle Checklist; and developed the ATIS Trusted Information Exchange Technical Report to address the industry’s great need for privacy solutions – a precursor to the extended work of the TOPS Council’s focus on trust and identity.
“ATIS is where the ICT industry comes together to create solutions that keep companies at the forefront of innovation,” White noted. “I look forward to working with ATIS member companies from both the service provider and vendor communities to help them realize common goals and improve the interoperability of new communication technologies.”
ATIS also welcomes Jim McEachern, Senior Technology Consultant to the organization. McEachern brings 30 years of network and product planning experience. While working for GENBAND and Nortel, he participated on several ATIS committees and forums, and has played a leadership role in the development of key standards, including H.248, OSS through Java, and SONET. He also served as the MultiService Forum President and is an MSF Senior Fellow.
At ATIS, McEachern will lead strategic initiatives involving communications and infrastructure providers, and focuses heavily on the convergence of hardware and software technologies to enable improved time to market and cost reductions.  He has been instrumental in advancing ATIS’ cybersecurity framework, expanding the organization’s mobile application initiatives and integrating end-user applications and analytics within national and international networks. He has been involved in ATIS’ recently launched ORCA Project, which stands for Open Real-Time Communications APIs, a major initiative to enhance solutions for reliably delivering content to any device by leveraging core network services.
