Aurecon strengthens focus on Gauteng with new leadership appointment
Strengthening its focus on the highly competitive Gauteng market, Aurecon, the global engineering and infrastructure advisory company, has appointed Dr Stephan Jooste as Regional Director: South Africa Northern from 1 August. Responsible for all of the operations within the region that encompasses Mahikeng, Tshwane and Polokwane, Jooste takes over the position from Phil Hendricks who has been promoted to Managing Director: Clients, Africa. Hendricks will be developing closer relationships with the company’s key clients throughout South Africa, including Gauteng as well as the broader continent.
Jooste is highly regarded as a specialist in the advisory field with extensive experience in public-private partnerships (PPPs) and project finance transactions, having been involved in major projects spanning various infrastructure sectors in Canada, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, Portugal and South Africa.

We realised that we needed to become more focused, to strengthen our operations, and develop closer relationships with our clients in order to improve our overall competitiveness. With a PhD focusing on infrastructure PPPs from Stanford University, USA, Jooste is a registered professional civil engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa. His career with Aurecon spans almost 13 years. He was promoted to Technical Director in 2013 and has been Unit Manager: Environment and Planning since February 2014.
