AVG Appoints Ronan Dunne to Supervisory Board

– CEO of Telefonica UK (O2) joins AVG as Independent Director

AMSTERDAM and SAN FRANCISCO, May 6, 2014 – AVG Technologies N.V. (NYSE: AVG), the online security company for 177 million active users, today announced the appointment of Ronan Dunne, Chief Executive Officer of Telefonica UK (O2), to AVG’s Supervisory Board.

Mr. Dunne became a member of the Telefonica SA Executive Committee in March 2014. With his mobile industry expertise and business track record, Mr. Dunne brings insights and skills that will help AVG define strategic direction, build partnerships and evolve its business model.

“As we aggressively expand further into mobile, the addition of Ronan’s expertise and perspective will be a valuable addition to our Supervisory Board,” said Gary Kovacs, CEO of AVG Technologies.

Mr. Dunne joined O2 in 2001 and previously held senior positions at the Banque Nationale de Paris, Exel plc. and at Waste Management International plc. Currently, he is also Chairman of Tesco Mobile, Telefonica’s highly successful mobile joint venture with Tesco plc. and a non-executive director of the Guardian Media Group (GMG).

Mr. Dunne is also a fellow and former council member of the Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI) and a fellow of the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT).

“I am looking forward to working with the other Supervisory Board members to advise on AVG’s business strategy in this area to help realize the enormous potential of the ‘Internet of Things’,” said Mr. Dunne of his appointment.

The appointment will be effective upon final shareholder approval at the general meeting of shareholders on June 11.
