Bezeq now ultra-fast with its broadband in Israel

Nokia Siemens Networks deploys Next Generation Network (NGN) Internet access for Israel’s leading broadband service provider

Bezeq’s subscribers will soon enjoy super fast Internet access at 200 megabit per second (Mbps) over existing copper cables. Israel’s leading broadband service provider recently launched the service powered by Nokia Siemens Networks’ new Very High Speed DSL* (VDSL) aimed at providing the best possible broadband experience. The enhanced bandwidth will allow such diverse services as the simultaneous viewing of several high-quality IPTV channels, telemedicine, online gaming and even the bandwidth to support 3D TV, as soon as it becomes available.

“Our next generation network is now capable of delivering an experience people never thought possible. It gives Bezeq a major competitive edge, as our subscribers now have access to the fastest broadband speeds in the country to meet all their online requirements,” said Yuval Keinan, vice president engineering, Bezeq. “Nokia Siemens Networks’ VDSL ensures the ultimate performance over existing copper lines. It allows us to create services that are not only technologically unmatched in Israel, but also highly affordable for our customers.”

“The new VDSL platform enables fiber optics performance on copper networks,” said Eitan Idelson, head of Israel customer team at Nokia Siemens Networks. “This technology allows Bezeq to speed up the delivery of very high bandwidth services without waiting to replace the existing physical copper access network with an optical one. We believe the capability we’ve delivered will help the operator maintain its leadership in terms of market share through its technical capabilities and innovation.”

Nokia Siemens Networks provided a end-to-end VDSL, encompassing hardware, software and services such as planning and network roll out. The platform comprises Multi Service Access Nodes (MSAN) supporting narrow and broadband services such as POTS, xDSL, ad Ethernet**. This includes smooth migration of traditional voice customers to Bezeq’s Next Generation Network that will help increase the operator’s voice revenues.

Nokia Siemens Networks is currently the main technological vendor in Bezeq’s next generation network and it deployed the network for the operator rapidly and seamlessly.
