Bitbuzz ramps-up to meet surge in UK demand

Three new staff appointed in London as Bitbuzz looks to UK hospitalty market

8th March 2012: Wi-Fi provider Bitbuzz has responded to the continued surge in demand for Wi-Fi across the UK by ramping up its team in London to assist the hospitality sector in ensuring that it can meet the demands of its customers. The company has added three key members to its team to support the continued growth of the business in the UK and London.

Bitbuzz entered the UK Wi-Fi market just 18 months ago and has already upgraded the Wi-Fi in a number of high profile venues throughout the UK. Amongst Bitbuzz’s notable UK clients are Ibis Hotels, Elegant English Hotels, stayCity Apartments, Kensington Rooms, Days Hotels, Holiday Inn Express and Leeds Bradford Airport. This early success has prompted Bitbuzz to establish a team of talented professionals in a new London base.

Russell McQuillan, Business Development Director, Bitbuzz commented: “We are delighted with the positive progression of our business in the UK over the past year and a half, as the demand for superior, safe and cost effective Wi-Fi continues to grow. From a standing start, we have already been appointed as the preferred Wi-Fi supplier by some of the leading hotel and hospitality brands in London and around the UK and we are now looking to build on these partnerships.”

Newly appointed Ashita Patil and Scott McCallion join the team as Business Development Managers, where they will work to develop Bitbuzz’s growing London customer base of hotels and manage the relationship of existing accounts. Meanwhile, Emanuele Mannino has taken on a role as Wi-Fi Engineer, also based in London. He will work with Bitbuzz’s engineering team to survey, build and maintain Bitbuzz’s UK hotspot network as it continues to roll out.

The demand for Wi-Fi across the UK continues to grow at a rapid pace, with the surge caused primarily by smart phones and tablets. Consumers now expect convenient, easy to access Wi-Fi and flawless quality of service. Hospitality sector businesses that provide such a Wi-Fi service, whether in a hotel room setting or a retail coffee shop are more likely to attract customers.

According to Office of National Statistics Great Britain*, the use of Wi-Fi hotspots increased markedly in 2011 with 4.9 million people now using hotspots at hotels, coffee shops, restaurants and airports, compared to 0.7 million people in 2007.

Bitbuzz recently announced that it has now reached over 350 hotspots across the UK and Ireland and is recording 10,000 peak logins per day on busy days.
