Bluetooth SIG hosts inaugural Bluetooth Europe event

Speakers including Adidas, Matchbox Mobile, Seed Labs, TobyRich and Nordic Semiconductors meet to discuss the convergence of wireless technology with the Internet of Things

Amsterdam, Netherlands – 04 September 2014 – The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) today announced the final agenda for Bluetooth Europe 2014, taking place in Amsterdam, The Netherlands on 16th – 17th September. Continuing the discussion from Bluetooth World in San Jose and Bluetooth Asia in Shanghai earlier this year, Bluetooth Europe brings together wireless industry heavyweights, from across the value chain, to discuss the future of the Internet of Things.

With more than 500 million marketable Bluetooth® Smart devices at the end of 2013, and a projected 3 billion products to be shipped by 2018, experts will discuss the role of the technology in driving innovation in key areas including beacons, wearables and the smart home. Wireless innovators, developers, OEMs, media and analysts who register for the event will be able to hear from a range of speakers including leading manufacturer Adidas, wireless connectivity expert Nordic Semiconductor and mobile development specialist Matchbox Mobile.

As well as expert industry insight on current trends and case studies, attendees will experience practical advice on streamlining the development process, and be able to take part in hands-on training creating Bluetooth Smart prototypes. “If you’re thinking about using wireless technology for your idea or product, Bluetooth Europe is the perfect event to provide you with the insight you need,” said Suke Jawanda, CMO at Bluetooth SIG. “Innovators will walk away from this year’s event having seen firsthand how Bluetooth is powering the growth of the Internet of Things and inspired to turn their ideas into reality.”

Highlights from the two-day conference agenda include:

·         Home automation: speakers including oort and Seed Labs Inc. will discuss the challenges faced by the smart home ecosystem, the opportunities to future proof devices by using Bluetooth Smart and how wearables can act as triggers in the smart home

·         Wearable tech: sessions from the likes of Dialog Semiconductors will explore the evolution of wearable technology and wireless technological developments for next generation wearables

·         Health and fitness: manufacturers including Adidas and Babolat will explore how wireless connectivity is changing the way sports enthusiasts train and perform and how they are making this technology readily available to consumers

·         Beacons in the retail space: experts from companies including AppFlare and LocalSocial will debate consumer reaction to date, consumer demand and the role of Bluetooth Smart in the growth of the beacon ecosystem
