Bridge Alliance welcomes Telkomcel as its 13th member

9th July 2013 – Bridge Alliance, the leading alliance made of top-tier mobile operators, today announced Telkomcel as its newest member. Telkomcel provides mobile services in Timor-Leste.

With Telkomcel joining the alliance as its 13th member, the group combined customer base will now exceed 500 million mobile subscribers, strengthening its position as a mobile alliance.

Telkomcel was established on 17 September 2012. Since its official launch on 17 January 2013, it has attracted more than 60,000 mobile subscribers and will soon provide coverage to 95% of Timor-Leste. The company is the only mobile operator in Timor-Leste that provides the latest 2G and 3G technology under its coverage, and is one of the greenest mobile operators in the world that uses green technology like fuelcell and solar photovoltaics.

Telkomcel’s success to date reinforces the international expansion strategy of its parent company Telkom Indonesia, and builds on the experience gained through its sister company Telkomsel Indonesia.

“We are excited to be part of Bridge Alliance, just like our sister company Telkomsel” said Dedi Suherman, Chief Executive Officer of Telkomcel. “Being a member enables our vision to create benefits for the people of Timor-Leste, by offering them attractive multi-country enterprise and roaming products and services. As a centre of excellence, Bridge Alliance will help us continue to be on the leading edge of a fast changing industry, and support us with an excellent platform to exchange expertise and best practices with like-minded operators.”

“This is another crucial milestone for us and we are very pleased to have Telkomcel onboard,” said Alessandro Adriani, Chief Executive Officer of Bridge Alliance. “This is also testament to our positive engagement with Telkomsel; we are honoured by their recommendation of and confidence in us. We look forward to engaging Telkomcel, and to helping them stay agile and highly competitive through commercially viable and cutting-edge solutions for enterprises and individual customers.”
