Brighter Display And Longer Lasting: Panasonic Toughbook’s Latest 2-In-1 Ultrabook™

Toughbook CF-AX3 ideal for sales and mobile executives with Full HD IPS anti-glare display, more powerful processor and versatile design

BRACKNELL, UK, 24TH OCTOBER 2013

Panasonic has launched its new versatile 2-in-1 Ultrabook™ with Full HD IPS anti-glare display and a more powerful Intel processor making it perfect for sales and mobile business executives that need to multitask on the road. The Toughbook CF-AX3 is a 2-in-1 Ultrabook™ device, combining tablet and laptop into a single unit so mobile business executives can flip it, touch it, wake it in a flash and work all day long; with the confidence of a ergonomically designed, business-rugged device from Panasonic Toughbook.

Replacing the CF-AX2, the Toughbook CF-AX3 comes with an 11.6” Full HD, 10 finger multi touch IPS anti-glare display. A significant evolution on the previous model, this screen delivers exceptional viewing quality whether working inside or out, with its 170° wide viewing angle, high contrast ratio and improvement in display brightness.

The power for busy executives

Ensuring busy executives have the computing power they need for their applications, the new Toughbook CF-AX3 also comes with 4th generation Intel® Core™ technology. With reduced power consumption, the Intel® Core™ vPro™ i5-4300U Processor CPU also helps improve battery life (up from 8 to 12 hours*[1] *[2]) with hot swappable function for all day mobile computing (up to 20 hours *[1] *[2]) and improves standby mode from 3.5 to 8 days*[1] ensuring workers can leave their device in standby for longer for fast boot and response times.

A laptop when you need it and tablet when you want it

Drawing on its long pedigree of combining ergonomic and durable design, the Toughbook CF-AX3 has a unique and robust 360° Flip-Over hinge design, allowing the device to be used in very different business situations and offering business users a new level of working freedom.

In Notebook mode, the CF-AX3 is ideal for mobile executives who need traditional keyboard access for information input. In Tablet mode the device is ideal for sales workforces, research teams and executives who need to input data on the screen while on the move and holding the device in one hand.

Ideal for mobile workers

New Panasonic 2-in-1 Ultrabook™ weighing just 1.135kg*[2] with 18mm-thickness is ideal for workers on the move. Designed to easily deal with the knocks and scrapes of a busy mobile executive’s life, the CF-AX3 can withstand bottom drops of up to 76cm*[3]and 100kgf*[4] without damage.

Latest operating system and migration path

Equipped with the Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro operating system, business customers can take advantage of the latest improvements in user functionality and the enterprise benefits of the Windows 8.1 Pro operating system. Windows 7 options are also available. With Microsoft extended support for Windows XP ending in April 2014, the latest Windows 8.1 Pro and 7 versions also offer a smooth migration option for businesses looking to upgrade hardware.

Equipped for mobility

The Toughbook CF-AX3 is optimised for connectivity whatever the location and includes the optional 4G/LTE module (3G option available), Bluetooth® v4.0 and Wireless LAN IEEE802.11a/b/g/n.

The device is also fully equipped with all the required business ports, including VGA and HDMI for display and projector connections, two USB 3.0 ports and LAN, as well as a full SDXC card support for camera image storage, for example.

In addition, in industries where security and information protection are mandatory, the CF-AX3 can be equipped with a contact smartcard slot. Also vPro™ is included and the unit can be equipped with Absolute Computrace and Intel Anti-Theft (AT) solutions.

“This latest Toughbook is another huge step forward in combing functionality, design and versatility into the perfect 2-in-1 Ultrabook™ PC for mobile executives,” said Jan Kaempfer, Head of European Marketing, at Panasonic Computer Product Solutions. “Whether you are a researcher, sales and business executive or medical professional, the Toughbook CF-AX3 gives you the power of a laptop when you need it and the versatility and convenience of a tablet.”
