BROADBAND FORUM CEO TO SPEAK AT BROADBAND RUSSIA FORUM IN MOSCOW,

NOVEMBER 23-24, 2011

Robin Mersh to present global market overview for Broadband and explain the Broadband Forum’s work in promoting standards, interoperability and the widespread deployment of superfast broadband

WHO:              The Broadband Forum is a global consortium dedicated to the development of broadband network, architecture, management and testing specifications.

WHAT:             Speaking for the first time in Russia, Broadband Forum CEO Robin Mersh will present an overview of the global broadband market and the importance of Russia as one of the top ten countries on the world broadband stage. With just 25% of Russian households possessing a fixed broadband line, this trend is set to grow.

Mr Mersh will also set out the vast range of work undertaken by the Broadband Forum and its members as a global standards organization, emphasizing its importance in advancing many communications technologies from fiber and DSL to MPLS in mobile backhaul. Following the announcement last month of the first G-PON certified products, he will explain the importance of the Forum’s certification programs in encouraging and enabling interoperability and the acceleration of the adoption of new technologies.

With the strength of the Russian telecoms market in terms of FTTB and FTTx deployments – a third of all fixed line connections will be over a form of FTTx by mid 2012 – he will highlight the Forum’s fiber-related work and its relevance to the Russian market.
