Butterfly Software expands with new board appointments and new storage expertise 

Maidenhead, Berkshire, UK, 23rd August 2011: Butterfly Software, the intelligent analysis and data migration specialist, has made two strategic board appointments, Malcolm Hopping as CEO and David Jay as CFO. The company has also expanded its product engineering and delivery teams with two high level recruits, storage specialists Fraser MacIntosh and Stuart Ridge.

Malcolm Hopping, previously non-executive chairman of Butterfly Software, takes over as CEO. Malcolm previously held executive and senior positions at Hitachi Data Systems, StorageTek and Network Systems Corporation. The directors of Butterfly have seen significant, fast expansion in the past twelve months and need experience at the helm to take the company to the next stage.

David Jay takes on the role of CFO. David has had a successful career holding posts as finance director and CFO at Texas Instruments, JMA and Telos. David has considerable experience in guiding emerging companies through growth periods, bringing in-depth financial knowledge and experience to ensure financial success.

Fraser MacIntosh joins Butterfly as Backup Product Manager and subject matter expert for backup systems. Fraser has twelve years experience in financial services IT, having worked at Royal Bank of Scotland and Prudential Assurance as storage technical lead and design consultant respectively. Fraser was principle storage design engineer for one of the largest email archive systems in the world, has considerable VMware experience and has managed several migrations between backup software including Networker, NetBackup, Data Protector, TSM and Avamar.

Stuart Ridge joins as Delivery and Support Manager, responsible for directing and managing the Butterfly Analysis Engine Report (AER) production and all Butterfly Migration Engine deployments. Stuart’s focus is ensuring that quality and efficient services are delivered to all partners and customers, while providing a full range of support for the Butterfly product offerings. Stuart has over twenty-two years experience in the storage industry, working in senior global storage product management and architecture roles at JP Morgan Chase and Lloyds Bank.
