– The most important regional technology event will take place for the first time in Costa Rica, at the Intercontinental Hotel; More than 1,000 attendees will learn about the latest solutions and trends of the IT industry to encourage growth and business acceleration.

San Jose, Costa Rica, March 20, 2013.- Cisco announced today that one of the company’s most important events, Cisco Connect, will take place in San Jose, Costa Rica, from September 10 to 12, at the Intercontinental Hotel. Cisco, along with its main customers and business partners from Central America, Caribbean and the northern part of South America (CANSAC) will present the latest developments in business solutions, networks and connectivity, including those in video, cloud, collaboration, security and the Internet of Everything.

For the CANSAC region, this is the most important event organized by Cisco after Cisco Live, giving attendees the opportunity of relating to their peers in information and communications technology.

Cisco Connect combines the rich history of Cisco Networkers and Cisco Plus, events designed to increase opportunities for training as well as for strengthening relationships among business partners and customers in the region.

With the attendance of approximately 1,000 professionals, Cisco Connect will feature the participation of important Cisco representatives like Howard Charney, Cisco senior vice president, and Jordi Botifoll, president for Latin America, and also of important Latin American business professionals.

“Cisco Connect CANSAC is a unique opportunity to learn about the latest trends in technology and connectivity at a global level and in the region. We are pleased to bring this event to Costa Rica,” said Gustavo Sorgente, Cisco director for the CANSAC Region. “As the networks become a prevailing platform for business and government transactions, having access to the most recent innovations in collaboration, cloud, video and virtualization is a great advantage for our customers in the region.”

Cisco Connect Costa Rica is the first Connect event among the 35 the company plans to execute around the world this year. Cisco chose Costa Rica due to its natural attractions and the support of the government. Investments in hotel construction and transport infrastructure have led to better service and positioned the country to host such an important event for the region. It is estimated that the event will exceed an investment of US$1million and that it will gather exponents of the technology industry as well as local and international press from more than 10 countries of the region.

The event will feature a showcase where different Cisco architectures will be exhibited and the main business partners of the region will demonstrate their latest solutions and products. The IT industry is going through one of its biggest transformations with the increasing use of social networks, virtualization, cloud computing technology, and the integration of multiple mobile devices, all of which significantly affects the capacity of IT departments.
