Internet TV Broadcast Provides Real-Life Insight Into the Changing Dynamics of the Global Workplace and the Importance of Employee Mobility, Flexibility

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Oct. 18, 2010 – Cisco will host a live Internet TV broadcast and Q&A session to announce key findings from its Connected World Report, a global research effort involving 2,600 workers and information technology professionals from a variety of industries in 13 countries. The research assesses the expectations, demands and behavior of employees in accessing corporate networks and applications as the lines between work and personal life blur and new technologies make it possible to access information anytime, anywhere, with almost any device.

Among the questions that will be addressed by the findings:
Is the office unnecessary? Do employees globally think it is necessary to be in the office to be productive?
Do workers expect IT to support any device—personal or corporate—in the workplace?
Would employees select a job with less pay and more work flexibility in device usage, or is salary more important than flexibility?
What are the differences in attitudes across cultures? For example, how do employee expectations and behavior differ in the United States, Brazil, and China, or between France and Australia?
What are IT’s major challenges as employee behavior and technology trends alter the way “work” is done and the way businesses operate?

Guests for the show include:
Marie Hattar, vice president, Borderless Networks marketing, Cisco
Rob Soderbery, general manager and senior vice president, Ethernet Switching Technology Group, Cisco
Dave Evans, chief futurist, Cisco
Joel Conover, senior manager, Borderless Networks, Cisco

“A technology avalanche is upon us,” said Dave Evans, chief futurist,, Cisco. “There are an estimated 14 billion devices connected to the Internet today, and that number is skyrocketing. The Cisco Connected World Report will help companies understand the expectations of today’s employee who is mobile, collaborative, global and multidisciplined. To remain agile and to foster innovation in a network-based world, companies must arm employees with the technologies of today and tomorrow, and together ride the technology avalanche to success.”
