Amino Communications, the world-leading IPTV specialist, has won a contract to provide its latest A140 and A540 MPEG-4 set top boxes to the City of Salisbury, North Carolina, as part of a major rollout of IPTV services across a new all fiber network.

Salisbury is targeting 10,000 subscribers for its new service as part of a major program to deliver advanced high-speed broadband access, entertainment services and local content to the local community under the brand name “Fibrant”.

For the first time in the North American market, Amino will supply its new A140 and A540 PVR set-top boxes based on the latest STi7105 System on Chip (SoC) solutions. Amino is partnering with Minerva on the deployment, now underway.

City of Salisbury Sales and Marketing Manager Len Clark said: “Fiber to the Home defines a community just as good water, power and transportation has in the past. Our city can now compete in a global economy and also benefit from enhanced entertainment and community services. Amino’s products are aligned with our vision and provide the leading-edge capability, functionality and performance our customers expect.”

Amino Communications Director of Sales Dan Carufel added: “The City of Salisbury is very forward looking and places great store in deploying the latest technology. Our new A140 and A540 PVR are both brand new in the marketplace, and we’re delighted they have gained immediate acceptance in this highly competitive market. We look forward to working with the City of Salisbury and Minerva on this exciting rollout.”
