CloudCO and open broadband key to delivering future broadband networks, says Broadband Forum

WHAT?New avenues for innovation in the broadband ecosystem are rapidly developing, creating an exciting future for broadband providers and users alike. However, to truly realize the potential of the next phase of broadband deployment, faster and more efficient provisioning of new cloud-based services to rapidly provide new revenue-generating services is crucial.

Requiring higher responsiveness and higher performance, realizing these services will require adaptable, agile, scalable and dynamic networks, which also reduce CapEx, migration and OpEx costs and deliver fast time to market. The Broadband Forum’s solution to this is CloudCO, a unifying framework which provides a common platform and reuses core functions to deliver new technologies and important service developments.

This gives operators the opportunity to run a single network with all varieties of access technologies and flexibly deploy innovative services.

During China SDN/NFV Conference 2018, Broadband Forum CEO Robin Mersh will discuss the ongoing work around CloudCO, including:

·   CloudCO Reference Architectural Framework (TR-384)

·   Open Broadband-Broadband Access Abstraction (OB-BAA)

·   Use Cases and Scenarios (WT416)

·   Interfaces

·   Software reference implementation

·   Migration and co-existence

·   Hardware reference implementation

·   CloudCO test cases and SDN migration

·   How CloudCO projects map on to Open Broadband

·   Open Broadband Labs
