Clouditalia Expands Nationwide Network with Coriant 100G Optical Networking Solution

hiT 7300 Multi-Haul Transport Platform Enhances Ability to Meet Increasing Bandwidth Needs of End-User Customers

NAPERVILLE, Illinois, 03 December 2014 – Coriant today announced that Clouditalia, a provider of integrated telecommunications and cloud services throughout Italy, has deployed the Coriant hiT 7300 Multi-Haul Transport Platform to increase capacity and extend the flexibility of its long haul transport network. The successful network deployment includes upgrades to transmission speeds of 100 gigabits per second (100G) and enhanced connectivity in major network sites, including Rome, Milan, Bologna, and Pisa. Clouditalia will leverage Coriant’s advanced technology to enhance its end-user service offerings, including fixed and wireless telecommunications, data center connectivity, and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).

“The connectivity needs of our enterprise customers continue to evolve as media-rich applications and cloud services become increasingly critical to their business success,” said Bernardo Marzucchi, Chief Technology Officer, Clouditalia. “With the ability to seamlessly increase service capacity and advance the flexibility of our optical fiber infrastructure, the Coriant solution will allow us to keep pace with our customers’ bandwidth demands and deliver the advanced services that help them become more competitive in the market.”

Clouditalia chose Coriant for this important network upgrade based on a proven track record of delivering high-performance optical networking solutions and world-class service and support. The industry-leading Coriant hiT 7300 provides Clouditalia a proven foundation for seamless network scalability and resilient service performance. Key technical criteria for selecting the hiT 7300 solution for this nationwide network expansion included robust ROADM capabilities, best-in-class coherent 100G, low latency transmission, pay-as-you-grow scalability, and dynamic optical link control for improved network performance and agility. The comprehensive Coriant solution, which also included the hiT 70xx platform for cost-optimized multiservice access, enables Clouditalia to exploit the full potential of their end-to-end transport network.

“We are pleased to partner with Clouditalia as they expand the capabilities of their transport infrastructure and create more powerful ways for their customers to communicate and collaborate,” said Uwe Fischer, Chief Technology Officer, Coriant. “As we enhance our solutions portfolio with advanced IP/packet optical networking features and new technologies such as Software Defined Networking, our focus remains on transforming technology innovation into real-world business value for our customers.”
