ADVA Optical Networking today announced that Colt Technology Services used the ADVA FSP 3000 to support Germany’s largest film festival, enabling over 400 screenings to more than 300,000 ticket buyers and 20,000 professionals from the international film community. ADVA Optical Networking provided the FSP 3000 to power a 10 Gigabit-per-second (Gbit/s) backbone link supporting high-definition (HD) video distribution to over 40 screens connected to a fiber-optic network provided by Colt.

More than 90% of the movies screened at the film festival were of diverse digital-video formats. The ADVA FSP 3000 uses wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) to enable high-performance transport for any traffic protocol, including the HD video signals. What’s more, the ADVA FSP 3000’s ultra-low latency modules are optimized for enterprise applications that ensure a high quality experience for consumers of time-sensitive applications such as video.

The ADVA FSP 3000 is a scalable WDM transport solution that provides flexible, cost-efficient multiplexing, transport and protection for high-speed data, storage and video applications. Up to 120 wavelengths per optical pair and a wide range of fully integrated transponder options optimize the spectral efficiency in the transmission fiber, eliminate fiber exhaust and reduce power and space consumption.
