Commtech to Distribute Violin Memory

Commtech has announced that it has been selected by Violin Memory to be a distributor of its flash Memory Arrays in the UK.

Specifically designed for sustained performance with high reliability, Violin Memory Arrays scale to hundreds of terabytes and millions of IOPS with low, spike-free latency, making them the ultimate solution for the company that is looking to accelerate its business critical applications and virtualize its data centre storage. Violin delivers performance way beyond what is possible with traditional disk-based solutions –

• Dramatically accelerated business applications by removing the ‘wait’ for data

• Significant improvement in on-line transactional systems user experience

· Enablement of data ingestion and analytics in real-time, allowing more complex analysis in a shorter window

• Replacement of vast quantities of existing storage (disk) assets

• Reduction in the total infrastructure footprint

• Reduction of performance-related investigations to near zero

Violin has won a host of awards, including AlwaysOn Company of the Year, SearchDataCenter Product of the Year and Gartner ‘Cool Vendor’.

Commtech has been selected to further develop the Violin channel and will support resellers with business development activities, marketing support, training, technical consultancy and services.

“The channel partners we are signing up are the visionaries in the market,” said Garry Veale, Managing Director of Violin Memory EMEA Limited. “Commtech understands how Violin can enable their users to get a better experience, with faster queries, bigger data-sets and new application capabilities. With Violin, customers can lengthen the useful life of applications and drastically shrink their back-end infrastructure, thereby reducing both OPEX and CAPEX.”

“Commtech will now be at the forefront of this strategic shift in application acceleration and infrastructure optimisation,” added Veale. “In the all-silicon data centre, Violin Memory gives enterprise applications an almost unlimited number of transactions per minute, at ultra-low latencies.  This allows business applications to thrive and deliver more business value at a significant cost reduction to traditional disk-based data systems. Imagine what your customer would do if their application performance was increased by 10 times, and their infrastructure costs decreased by 70 percent.”

“These are exciting times to be in the storage business”, said Mark Walker, Country Manager for Commtech. “We are beginning to see primary data storage for performance-bound applications migrate to flash and Violin Memory is leading that trend. We look forward to helping our reseller partners deliver a step-change in application performance to their customers”.
