CARTES Asia 2014, Hong Kong, 19–20 March 2014

CARTES Secure Connexions Asia, one of the world’s leading smartcard technology, mobile payment applications and secure identity events, took place in Hong Kong last week with attendance from 3015 qualified visitors, prompting excellent feedback from exhibitors. UK households get poor value from bundled TV, broadband and telecoms packages

A report has found that UK households are spending £195.35 annually on unwatched TV channels when they buy them as part of a bundled television, broadband and home phone package.

New Call Telecom, the leading value telecoms and broadband provider, has long argued that customers are poorly served by entertainment packages which give them services they often do not want or use.

Major UK Mobile Operators and the ICO LAUNCH CONSUMER Spam Reporting Service TO Protect MOBILE Customers

The GSMA today announced that EE, O2, Three, Vodafone together with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), are working together to tackle nuisance text messages by using the GSMA’s Spam Reporting Service. The service, powered by Cloudmark Inc., provides a worldwide clearinghouse of messaging threats and misuse. It enables operators to analyse spam attack patterns, identify the sources of attacks and shut down the sources as a result.

Brazil: On the Brink of a Smartphone Payment Revolution

Starting in the first half of 2014 Brazilians will be able to use their smartphones to carry out contactless payment transactions when shopping. In the first commercial project of its kind in Latin America, Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) is working together with Claro and one of the country’s largest banks, Bradesco,. The mobile payment project will kick off in the state of São Paulo and will later be expanded to other parts of the country, generating a total countrywide customer base of over 85 million users. G&D is supplying the SIM cards with secure storage for the payment software, as well as the SmartTrust Portigo™ mobile wallet for smartphones, which contains sensitive customer information such as credit/debit card numbers and account details. G&D is also providing the Trusted Service Manager (TSM) solutions to both Bradesco and Claro. G&D’s TSM solutions enable customers to receive Bradesco account holders’ payment card information onto their devices in an encrypted, secure form via Claro’s mobile network.

Cyber security force will allow UK to dominate Web

Addressing Internet security important for growing online commerce, Rushton says

The UK Government is promising to make the country safer from cyber-attacks by establishing a “cyber defence force” and the co-founder of a digital media forensics company thinks it is an excellent idea.
