Cost-effective EMC and IP55 VERAK cabinets

Cost effective VERAK floor-standing enclosure gives high EMC attenuation and IP65 environmental sealing

VERAK is a very strong floor-standing enclosure, rated at 750kg static load capacity and giving more than 80dB attenuation at 100MHz and 40dB at 1GHz, the highest levels available in a standard product from any manufacturer. Available in heights from 27 to 42U, and widths and depths of 600 and 800mm, it addresses the communications, industrial networking and electronics sectors, providing both IP65 environmental protection and EMC screening.

The in-house design of the stainless steel EMC gasket offers several advantages. The door is easy to close because the gasket does not have to be heavily compressed during the closing process. A swing handle controls a four-point over-centre cam closure that exerts the correct pressure on the gaskets, thereby avoiding over-compression and ensuring the integrity of the IP and EMC seals. The closing mechanism provides a mechanical advantage on the force exerted on the handle, reducing the effort need to close the door; the roller/cam action pulls the door tight without excessive leverage being required. As the gasket is subjected to minimal compression, the sealing and screening performance does not degrade over time with repeated door openings; a particular advantage where the cabinet is regularly visited and opened for routine maintenance.

VERAK is available with steel or glass front and rear doors and with plain or ventilated top covers and bases. The ventilated covers support forced or natural convection cooling without reducing the rack’s EMC performance. Cables can be brought into the rack from the top or base and also through 5U or 10U high recessed cable entry panels, fitted above or below shortened front or rear doors. The removable screened gland plates provide a cable entry facility without compromising the EMC performance.
