CWC PUTS PANAMA’S PUBLIC DOCUMENTS ONLINE
US$10.2 million two year contract
Cable & Wireless Panama (CWP), a Cable & Wireless Communications business unit, is to help Panamanians to get online access to the important documents needed when buying or selling property or a business.
CWP has been chosen to create one of Central America’s first fully electronic national registry systems. The Public Registry of Panama stores official private, public and commercial documents including: property titles, deeds, Acts and transactional information; and commercial instruments including company constitutions and details of Board members, dignitaries and power of attorney.
The social telecoms (telecoms enabled public services) project will put all processes and documents within the Registry online and viewable through a customer portal. The customer portal will be developed in future to enable citizens and companies to submit and verify official documents through the site.
Cable & Wireless Panama has been awarded a US$10.2 million two year contract to introduce a system across the Public Registry’s 10 nationwide offices. This contract will be jointly executed with Futuver, a vendor specialising in the system being introduced.
The work will include staff retraining, the creation of performance indicators and installing state of the art processing infrastructure which will interface with other government systems and underpin the customer portal.
