Cyber Security Challenge UK discussion on the cyber threat to the UK telecoms industry

Talk from Mark Hughes, Director of Security at BT

 Wednesday 8th June 2011 from 6:30pm

Telecommunications companies are increasingly at risk from the cyber attacks of online criminals seeking to exploit commercial intellectual property or even bring down critical services via their extensive communications networks.

Expert security professionals are an increasingly vital component in helping telecoms companies identify and mitigate this threat. However an imminent shortage of new talent is giving the advantage back to the criminals and leaving our telecommunications sector increasingly at risk.

The Cyber Security Challenge UK is a cabinet office-backed, national competition – bringing together industry, academia and government to identify new cyber security talent. On the 8th of June, the Challenge has invited BT’s Director of Security, Mark Hughes to talk about the changes expected across the telecoms industry over the next five years that could put its cyber security in danger and what must be done to protect our communications infrastructure from this rising threat.
